In the Hunter's Hill Council area, many of our residents are motivated to act for a sustainable future so, by living here, you're already part of our journey towards net zero emissions.

Council is currently developing a Net Zero Implementation Plan which will be a critical document to outlining how we, as a community, will reach net zero emissions.

Council has already demonstrated climate action by:

  • developing a Sustainability Action Plan for 2022,
  • signing on to an 100% renewable energy agreement,
  • purchasing 4 electric vehicles in our fleet, and
  • installing solar panels on the Town Hall roof, to name just a few.

The Australian and NSW Governments have both committed to net zero emissions by 2050. Having declared a 'Climate Emergency' in 2020, Council is looking to formally endorse support for this target.

In order to meet this target, there is much more Council and our community can do to reduce emissions.

Have Your Say:

Community consultation is a key aspect that will inform the Draft Plan.

  1. Online survey (closed)

The survey will delve into your knowledge of emissions reduction actions, what you’re already doing and where you need assistance to do more at home.

It should take around 20 minutes to complete and will provide robust data to inform the Draft Plan’s actions. Your input is so appreciated in shaping our emissions future.

Complete the survey to go in the draw to win a $100 Harris Farm gift card.

The survey will be available from Monday 6 May to Sunday 23 June, 2024.

2. Online focus groups (3 sessions)

Using the results from the community survey, we’re inviting residents to attend an online focus group to further explore the actions our community want to take to reduce emissions at home and how Council can help.

One participant from each group will WIN a $100 Harris Farm gift card by attending.

Feedback from the sessions will be considered and incorporated into the development of the Draft Plan.

Groups will be held on:

- Tuesday 27 August from 6pm-7:30pm in Council Chambers

- Wednesday 4 September from 6pm-7:30pm (online)

- Saturday 7 September from 10am-11:30am (online) Cancelled
