Our Vision

Establish a vibrant and inclusive library and community hub that fosters lifelong learning, creativity, and social connection in the heart of the Hunters Hill village.

Objectives

The key objectives of the Hunter's Hill Council Library project are:

  • improve our library services and programs.
  • enhancing community engagement by creating a place where residents of all ages can connect, learn and grow together.
  • provide resources and opportunities for early literacy programs for children, as well as tutorial opportunities for adults.
  • create a safe and fit for purpose base for community groups.

Overview

In March 2021, The Yarn opened as Hunters Hill's public library, operating from 10am to 4pm, Monday to Friday. It is co-managed by Lane Cove Council Librarians and Hunter's Hill Council’s Community and Customer Service team.

The Yarn now has a membership base of nearly 3000 residents, has had over 5000 visitors through the door in the past year and a circulation of more than 15000 loans each year.

In February 2025, Council engaged DunnHillam Architecture + Urban Design to assist in establishing the requirements for the new library facility, by undertaking key stakeholder engagement, assessing proposed sites, and preparing feasibility assessment and concept designs for the proposed new Hunters Hill Library.
